Wow, what a Saturday. I woke up thinking it was going to be a nice quiet day and I wasn't feeling to shit hot, what with my dry socket tooth ache so I was planning on spending it on the couch with a good book...but the phone rang and suddenly we were getting company. The son of our friends Barb and Norm, with his wife and two sons. They were coming to get some of R's prize winning barley for their chickens, apparently when they fed the last barley they got from us the chickens layed like crazy and then they bought some other grain from a neighbour and the egg production dropped so they came back for more of ours. It was the first time they have been to our place, since his dad picked the barley up the last time for them. They came around 5 pm and were here until 10 pm...The boys are 14 and 12 and man were they rambunctious...You kind of forget just how much energy young people have...The younger one was checking out everything...climbing over the rocks beside my pond and running up and down the sidewalks to my garden shed. He was throwing sticks for the dogs until they played out and quit running for them...hahahha We took them for a tour of our land and he ran up and down one of the biggest hills we own several times...I bet he slept good last night.
We had soup and homemade bread for egg salad (my personal favorite) or ham sandwiches, which I let them make themselves...and squares for dessert. All in all it was a nice visit.
Stuff in the greenhouse is finally growing better, we have been eating the early lettuce I started for a while now, and is it ever tastey...
