Ugh !!!

Oh I knew when I got up this morning this was going to be an interesting day...you know, I just had a sense about it....like the universe was off kilter...it started when R stood for 2 minutes in front of the wrong cupboard with his arms holding both doors open looking for the cereal, which happened to always be in the other cupboard for about....ooooohhhh lets see, the past 10 years.....!!!!! I had to finally point out to him that the cereal wasn't in that cupboard...and he finally actually LOOKED and closed the doors and went to the next cupboard...hahahahahahahah   whoooooohoooooo

then I was bribed into going into town with him, when I really wanted to stay home....and get some house work done..it always suffers when I have to be in the field...but he bought me with a teen burger and root beer....what can I say, I am a junk food whore...ahahahahhaha

He had ulterior motives though...even though  he said he just wanted my company...I knew to go prepared....so I took my gloves and work shirt...and sure enough...he asked me to help him load gravel....I remember having the discussion several days ago about whether to have the gravel pit deliver a load of gravel or just pick it up ourselves with the barrels in the stock trailer...like we did a few weeks ago with the rock chip...but apparently I missed the staff meeting where the decision was finalized because that is what we did today... loaded by hand...with only five gallon pails and 45 gallon steel barrels....953 pails to be exact.....did I mention by hand....by hand... R filled the pails outside, set them at the back of the trailer and I picked them up and walked into the trailer and dumped them in the barrels....ugh....we were both sweating profusely by the time we were done and it only took us 40 minutes.... R had to go to the chiropractor afterwards...ahahahahah  I refused to go, the last time he made me worse instead of better.... I can see R's reasoning behind doing it by hand....after all it only cost us a trip to town and $77. for the gravel...and we only needed a bit...but if we had them deliver only that much, because we live so far from town it was going to cost $399.  ($85/hr for the truck plus the gravel. He said to just think of it as time to bond...hahahahahahha

We took that new bull we bought in Feb to the vets again to get re-checked and the vet declared him no good....so the insurance should kick in now and we will have to ship him and get our money back...which means we will now be looking for two or three new bulls this fall....hopefully ones with better attitude than this one had...he turned out to be a really snotty little shit. One to replace him, one to replace the best one that died and one new one just for the hell of it...money money money....lots going out none coming in.  we just had a custom sprayer come in for the second time to spray the crop again because we sprayed a bit too soon the first time and didn't get a good kill on some of the weeds so crop insurance won't pay out if you don't fertilize the crop or spray to control weeds...there went another $1000.

yesterday we were baling up the outside rounds on a hay field trying to be the looming storm clouds that were rolling in....thunder, lightening....and R was raking and I was baling....when my tractor started steaming and pissing antifreeze out of the radiator cap...I shut it off and flagged R down...boy was he mad...cussing under his breath...we had to wait until it cooled off enough to open the cap and pore water in.(by then it was poring rain)..the fan belt had broken and the tractor engine had overheated.....it happens almost every two years but R seems so surprised when it does occur....I guess I remember because I write that kind of stuff down in my journal everyday...the ironic part is he had the darned thing off the other day to replace the air conditioner belt..and noticed that the fan belt was not in great shape....duh.....always replace both belts at the same time...then there is no problem...

the new baler works good when everything is going good...but if there is a problem with this one I just have to shut it down and wait for R...I have no idea how to fix anything on it.... after running my old baler for 25 years...I could fix everything on it as well as R but not so now...this new one is way to complicated...with all its computer chips and sensors...god help us...it did give us some grief yesterday...early in the day and there we were both of us sitting in hay field with our reading glasses on and both manuals open thumbing through he troubleshooting section trying to figure out what to do....we burned up a good hour fiddling with that...got it going only to make one more bale and have it do the same thing..again....ugh....frustrating...but we think we fixed the problem and started baling again only to get rained out...ahahahhahahahahhah gotta love it..

My arms are like rubber tonight after pailing all those rocks...but it looks like we will be working on the last of the landscaping tomorrow since we had a shower again today...at least I will be...R may have to move the cows to greener pasture...ahahahah

Before we headed home from town R took me for supper, we don't normally eat in this particular town because the restaurants are not very good there but we were hungry...so we ordered and while we were eating our salad...in walked an old friend of mine or rather of my first husband. Now, I know I run the risk of seeing people I used to know in my other life...and I say other life because that is how it feels it being so far removed from my present life in everyway but farming...I do not see the same people go to the same places or live the same sort of life...     People should be over the shock of how fast I met and married R....after all it's been seventeen years now...I mean give over people...but this fellow, walked in to the restaurant sat down and proceeded to glare at me from across the room...all through our meal...everytime I glanced up he was staring...I couldn't not notice since he was sitting behind R so everytime I looked at R, I could see him behind....not staring nastily or anything, just staring. He never came over to say anything...but then he wouldn't because he doesn't like R. He made that quite plan the last time I met him which was about 10 years ago...and it is sad for me because I used to think we were good friends...other people tell me that he had romantic intentions once a proper amount of time had passed after my first husbands passing but how was I to know that...and beside what happened between R and I when we first met was pretty spectacular and there was none of those feelings for this guy....ewwwww....he was like a brother to me...at least that's how I percieved him... any, water under the bridge now...R and I are happy to be celebrating our 17th anniversary in a couple of days.... but it was still a little unsettling to see him again like that. I was thinking of going over to say hello but when he saw us getting up to leave he got up and went to the washroom. hummph....oh well... maybe in another 10 years he will be ready to talk to me again...

so a wierd day all in all....and I ate way too much crap food. gotta keep my numbers down...ahahahahaha I am obssessed with my blood glucose monitor now...have to keep the numbers in range...ahahahahahha  crazy stuff.
