ahhahaa I'll start this post out laughing cause it's all down hill from there....It was 17 degrees when we woke up at 5am this morning. Not a good sign for the rest of the day... by 9 am it was 25. I lucked out and had some help from R with my water barrel project. I am taking some previously unused garden space beside my greenhouse and moving the lovely soil to one end and then laying some crushed rock chip and laying a brick pad. Then I want to set my fancy rain barrel there on a stand to catch rain water off the garage roof. I have been working on the project for the past few days but it is slow going because I had to keep waiting for R to bring me the rock chip, then the bricks, then the sand...things I am not allowed to carry on pain of death...or so I was told. so like the sweet thing he is he brought me the rest of the stuff I needed this morning and helped me lay the bricks...well, he handed them to me which saved me packing them from the wheel barrow to the site....and there the story takes a turn for the worse....while I was laying the bricks in the herringbone pattern we prefer... I slammed one in to place with what was suppose to be the brick in my hand but I forgot to move my bloody (literally now) finger out of the way..It hurt so badly, I was speechless, quite an astonishing thing for me.....and tears ran down my face....normally I would have cried...Mommy, mommy mommy (don't ask me why, mommy was never very sypathetic) I just do....but nothing would come out...R, rubbed my shoulder but he was afraid to get to close...because I have been known to throw the offending object away in disgust....but a brick just seemed to dangerous....hahahaha I could feel my finger swelling nearly instantly and later when I took my glove off , the finger (my F u one on my right hand) is purple and swollen and the nail is black, completely blackish purple.... I will get hell for that at my next appointment...not suppose to injure myself.
But we got the bricks layed and swept sand back and forth to fill in the grout lines....there is a heavy tarp underneath to keep the weeds from growing...and after R left to do some plowing in the field...I set up the cinder blocks and set my barrel in place...it looks quite lovely and tomorrow I will take a picture...
At this point I should have stopped and went inside...but the over achiever in me just had to finish the project.... I had to get on a ladder and take down the down spout from the eavestrough and move it to over the garage door and then down to my barrel...not normally a big deal but by this time it was nearly 30 degrees and I was in a south exposure, the worst place to work...but I pushed it and started getting unco-ordinated, couldn't get the screwdriver to fit in the slot....my hands were shaking....I was dizzy and short of breath....nausious and my legs were shaking....that's what happens when I am in the sun too much...it really affects my muscles and by the time I was done, put my stuff away and staggered to the house...i was barely able to stay upright.... I called R on the cell and asked him to come home early for lunch...then I held on to the wall as I made my way to the shower....by this time I was really weak and ended up vomitting on the bathroom floor and fell into the shower stall...thank god for the handicap bar we installed in there. I was able to pull myself up and sit on the chair we have in the shower....I showered sitting down and felt slightly better afterwards but still very shakey...by the time I made it to our room R was home and helped me put my PJ's on... he brought me some juice and after a while I felt better but the whole time I was making lunch...I had to hold on to the counter because my legs were still so weak.. all the muscles in my body are still trembling....I could hardly hold my fork....
I had this happen once before....and you would think I would learn to stay out for only the 30 minutes...instead of 3hours...
I layed down after lunch and slept for an hour...but I still feel very weak and my muscles are still trembling...like I have parkinsons.
I did see a cute thing this morning though...or not so cute, depends how you look at it... this cat that has adopted us has been hurt, I might have mentioned that already but it looks like something bit her back leg....anyway I guess she decided since she has trouble walking to far now...she moved her kitten closer....I watcher her carry it across the lawn, watching for the dogs the whole time...she trotted down the sidewalk and straight to my garden shed with the sliding door...she stood on her back legs, moved the door away and slipped inside...so they have set up house in there....water is close with the pond only a few feet away and R has brought her a flat cake pan with cat food in it into the shed where the dogs can't get at it...or the ravens. Her kitten is ugly...the mother is like a sylvester cat....the same tuxedo markings but a really pretty dove grey colour....but her kitten is all over white...with the odd little black mark... I really don't want kittens in my yard, since the last time we had any down here they trashed all my flowers and shit in my lettuce patch... but we shall see....white cats don't last too long around here...because the owls get them at night...too easy to see.... I must admit it will be nice to have a cat to pet again though...as I intend to tame the kitten...
