wow, we had a storm blow through yesterday...there were tornado watches and the whole nine yards....we got hail of course....my lovely flowers are beaten to smithereens... the garden is trashed...and the hay crop got damaged....but we got 2 inches of rain in an hour and a half....that is the most rain we have gotten at one time in years.....it all rain off of course because it came down so fast...but it put some water in the dug outs...and the low spots in the field got moisture...so that should help for a bit..
afterwards, R had to go check the cows....and the block wall we had set in place in the morning....was completely washed away....once it was complete it wouldn't have moved but we only had it half done and the water ran around the end and washed the rock away....the power was off...and I always worry about that because our small basement has a sump pump and pit in it to take away excess water....and in a gully washer like the one we had yesterday water comes in fast and furious...and when the power goes off the pump doesn't work....I have been nagging R to buy a small generator...but so far no luck...I guess the basement will have to flood and ruin the hot water tank, vaccum and furnace before he gets his ass in gear....
Today is a day off from landscaping...thank god...we have an appointment in the city...and hope to do a bit of shrub shopping...if things aren't too picked over that is...
after the storm last night, when R had gone up north to check the cattle....I puttered on the block wall trying to fix the damage the storm had wraught...when the dogs jumped up with their hair standing on end and growling....they ran past me, up the driveway...and I turned around to see if someone was riding by on horseback...one of the dogs favorite pasttimes is to chase, horse riders... but it wasn't a person on horseback or on foot...it was a bear....he was just ambling down the side of the road...and I guess had stopped to stare into our yard...probably sizing me up for a snack...I had my back to the road of course or I would have seen him coming down the driveway...ahahahahahahah huh...the dogs actually earned their supper last night...
Well I'm off to do something with my hair and have some breakfast...
