I LOVE being sneaky

Hahahahaha   I am being so sneaky...it makes me giggle like a little girl...   I have this friend whose place we were at on Monday evening for supper and she was cooking the meat on the barbecue on the deck when I noticed her having to drop and least a foot down from the patio door to the deck.... Now I knew they had quite a drop there but she had told me earlier in the summer that her and the grand kids were going to build a step...well it obviously didn't happen...so I made R come out on the deck with me, supposedly for some fresh air....and we did a hillbilly measuring of the spot so that I could whip up a set of steps for her for her birthday next week...so the very next day  i built them..and they turned out awesome...but i wanted to make sure they were a good fit but didn't know how to do it without giving away my surprise...so this morning in town to pick up some stuff I needed to finish them, like wood filler and primer....R told me I would have to  come clean about my project and ask her if I could measure the step.....so I finally gave in but was very disappointed that it wouldn't be a surprise...when we went to her place, R called on his cell so we wouldn't be shocking her by showing up at the door...but she didn't answer...so we went around to the back yard thinking she might be in the garden...but she wasn't so I quickly ran up on the deck and took a measurement.. we then proceeded to the hardware store....she called us minutes after we arrived there and asked us to come back to her place....we giggled and asked her if she would like to join us for lunch and then I drove us all up to a bigger town for dinner and then we went to the hardware store there because the place in the smaller town didn't have what I needed...I even had her pick out the primer with me...for her own surprise...so when I take the steps there and surprise her...she will be really surprised that she had been a part of the finishing job on them....ahahahhahaha  I will take pictures when I have them all done..and let you know how she reacted....  good fun...
