Hey, did you know that 1 cubic foot of barley grain weighs 38.54 lbs.... THAT is what I spent my day figuring out....because I was foolish enough a while ago to introduce R to the wonders of google-ing....on line...and now...every little thought turns into a half a day of research....for ME !!!
Like I could give a rats ass about weights and measures....this morning I spent the whole time on line trying to find him some one in the city who sold 500 kg bulk polypropylene tote bags for grain and fertilizer....most of them are made in China so it was quite a challenge to find someone...but once I learned the lingo....it happened....apparently google-ing bulk tote bags...was the wrong thing to do....I should have typed in FIBC or flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers.....who knew...
so I found him a place and they are willing to sell us the small number we need.....and that is what the weight of a cubic foot thing was all about...he wanted to know how big a bags he would need to buy to hold the right amount of grain/fertilizer...
so I guess we are going there tomorrow either before or after my eye examinations at the Royal Alex Hospital... just a routine annual thing for one of the meds I take...can cause blindness....so they want to check....I think I would be able to tell...if I went blind I mean...hahahahaha I hate going for those tests....cause then I have to waste the rest of a trip to the city....half blind because of all the drops they put in....and it isn't until we are half way home that the blurriness leaves...R likes it cause it keeps me from spending too much money....like that ever happens...I am usually the one that needs to be convinced we need something enough to pay that much for it.... anyway......
at lunch time he presented me with a list of other things I could look up on google if it wasn't too much trouble.... and so....guess what I did all day...surfed the web...I hate being on the computer that much....
I did manage to slip outside and finish baling the last of the first cut of hay....yeah.... so we are officially done first cut...now we will start on the green feed...( grain that is still green and is cut and baled...the cows love it, it's like crack cocaine to them) some of the grain we seeded was put in so late that it will be hard to have it ripen before the frost comes...so we will cut and bale it...and then there is some grain that will ripen and be combined and put in bins...hold on .......(insert elevator music here)
Whewwwww... major hot flash attack...sorry about that...now where were we...
oh ya.... R is a google aholic.....hahahahahha I am determined to show him how to google on his own...but his spelling is so atrocious, who knows what he will end up getting...ahahahahhahah
we were almost down to one dog today....okay here's the story... the dogs begged me to take them for a truck ride when I went to go baling...it took me 20 minutes to clean the back of the truck out enough that they could ride there...once I had the tractor going and was heading to the part of the field left to bale....the dogs were trotting along beside and the yellow (my favorite of course) was keeping ahead directly in front of my tractor....when all of a sudden I lost sight of him (keep in mind that I am 10 feet in the air with the whole of the tractor engine in front of me) there was a bit of a blind spot...I am craning my neck to see where he is when I caught just a flash of a yellow tail right beneath the tractor...I slammed my foot on the clutch and stood with the other on the brakes.....and nearly broke my nose on the front windshield....to stop in time....when I looked out the back window to see if he was run over....I the hitch pin of the baler which attaches it to the tractor draw bar...hit him and knock him over.....he flapped around a bit to get his feet back under himself and stood up, then bolted out from between the tractor and baler....like his ass was on fire.... he had stopped to take a crap..that's right....he was trotting along in front of a 4ooo lb. tractor with a 3000 lb baler behind and stopped on a dime to crap... I banged on the window and yelled..."that could have been your last crap you f'ing dumb ass" I was very upset....I do believe he is losing him mind...he used to be so careful to stay clear of the equipment...but lately....we rarely take them anymore because they can't keep up and won't just lay beside the truck but want to follow around and around the field then he can't move for the next 2 days...they wandered off after I was only half done and went to the truck and then discovered the small dug out nearby and went for a swim.....just dandy....if there is water around those two will always find it... so when I was done...I parked the tractor and went to the truck ...the chocolate dog just leaps up into the back on his own....but I have to lift the yellow dog...he can get his front paws on the tail gate but the hind end is just to heavy...so I have to lift a 114 lb. dog into the truck...a soaking wet, algae covered, muddy 114 lb. dog....ewwwwwww then when he is up there....he shakes and covered me in algae and muck...and smelly slough water....that's gratitude for ya.... next time I might have to think twice before I clutch.....hahahahahahahahha
