Once Again Amazed

1.  I find myself once again amazed at our (by "our" I mean Canada's) door mat attitude to the arrival of the Tamil refugees on that ship.... Why, oh Why, can we not just treat the sick, stock the ship with food and water and send them all back....

I become incensed when I think that once again we are forced to take in people who have jumped the Que, speak no English, have medical issues, and no training... so that we have to give them priority medical care when they have no address or income...Canadian citizens living on the street with no fixed address do not receive welfare or EI with no fixed address....or medical coverage... and immigrants with university education and savings and that also speak or are learning English are turned down for immigration or have to go through the long frustrating process to come to Canada and these people (and I am not saying they are not deserving of a better life) pay some slime ball smuggler to put them on a ship and think to arrive here and be welcomed....I know, I know....you are thinking.... " but think about the courage it took to leave behind everything you know, family and face months at sea with little food or water...crowded and scared...to come to a country you know little about to hopefully find refuge"....and I say "but the war is over in Sri Lanka since may last year and things are beginning to improve"    I do NOT have a problem with them immigrating to Canada....but go through the proper channels and do it right...it is only fair...meet the criteria or have someone sponsor you....but do it the right way.....
Because just jumping on a ship and skulking into port really burns my ass....I get the same feeling I have when JW's show up at the door trying to shove their twisted version of the bible down my throat... it gets my back up and I come out swinging...
So I say....feed them, treat them, stock the ship with supplies and send them ALL back....and the next time a ship comes....meet them with naval vessels and guns and turn them away...

Another problem I have with these refugee ships is, that at least in the case of the one last year was that 99% of the people on board were men, men trying to escape the tragic life in Sri Lanka.....what the hell ever happened to women and children first....for Christ's sake...what a bunch of cowardly men...to leave their wives and children in those refugee camps, sell everything they own and leave them destitute and sail away to a new country and a better life....what I would like to know is of those Tamil's who arrived last year, how many of them are employed, are learning English and have tried to bring their families here....or are at the least sending money to them....I wonder ?

2.  Is it just me or has the world gone a little insane.... we were in the city on Tuesday and while we were driving across the city to an appointment we had the radio on...they were talking about the Lockerby bomber...and his release by the Scottish government on compassionate grounds....because he allegedly had only three months to live due to prostate cancer...Well he is still alive a year later....

How in the HELL does he deserve compassion ?

Did he show the 250+ passengers of that plane compassion by building that bomb....NO  so here's what I think...

When you kill someone, either by shooting them, knifing them, with your bare hands, with a vehicle or by bomb... you take away their rights... Ultimately I would like to see capital punishment but since that will never happen in our oh so civilized country I believe when you go to prison for a crime of that type you should lose all your rights...just like you took them away from your victim, you should not be allowed to vote, get a degree, have conjugal visits or make money. No cigarettes, no books, no desserts and no visitors other than lawyers... you should not receive any medical treatments that are not absolutely necessary to keep you alive...so that you can live a long life in prison, with lots of time to contemplate what you did and why you are being punished.....

To Punish ( according to the Websters dictionary) to cause (a person) to undergo pain, loss or suffering for a crime or wrongdoing.

So I want to know what the hell happened to our prison system....in what capacity are these murderers being PUNISHED.....they vote, eat well, aren't tortured, some get conjugal visits, drugs, cigarettes, education, free medical, they have libraries, computers, gyms and TV....and they strike or riot when ever they feel they are being harshly treated ( a prison strike in Ontario a few years ago occurred when the prison officials terminated the prisoners satellite TV feed).....what the fuck is that about.... I know some schools have tighter security measures than some prisons....

This is something that has bothered me for a very long time...I am not saying that thieves or speeders should be handled harshly but if you, take a life, rape a woman or man, abuse children sexually or any other way you should rot in prison with NO RIGHTS what so ever.

So the Lockerby bomber should have been left in a Scottish prison, to die yes, or maybe not...but he was sentenced to life in prison....that doesn't mean "or until you get sick then we'll let you go home to die in the bosom of your family".... The people who were blown to bits on that plane didn't get the right to die in the bosom of their families...nor did their families get the opportunity to say goodbye and have a proper burial... No compassion was shown to them.... that's all I'm saying.

THE END.
