What a Marathon

Good grief, what a crazy pair of days just passed....on Thursday I awoke to the news that we were going on a small road trip to pick up a trailer full of fence posts and lumber...we need to rebuilt the floor in our cattle loading chute....and the raised catwalk on our cattle handling corral system...I have fallen through those rotten planks one to man times...last year I got 8 stitches in my leg where it was gouged by the broken end of one plank as my leg fell through the hole...while I was running to close a gate...I went down and tried to save the gun, hose and tank I had strapped to my back while treating the cows for warbles....(there is a liquid we apply to their backs that soaks into their blood system and kill parasites) The Ivomec is very expensive...that one 10L jug strapped to my back was $1200. worth of dope....so while trying to hold the syringe like gun and hose attached to the jug on my back, out of harms way I only had one arm to break my fall...needless to say it took the brunt of the fall and I tore a muscle in my shoulder ...which was immovable for about 6 weeks....so I walked around with a broken wing...in a sling, R had to brush my hair...ahahahahhaa  now there is a test of love...letting him brush my hair I mean...ahahahahahah

All women are vain about their hair....and to sit placidly by and let him comb it the wrong way and then smile and sweetly say, "thank you babe" was killing me...it is the sole reason I healed up as fast as I did, otherwise I would have milked the invalid thing a lot longer...ahshahhaa got me out of having to cook, it was my right arm after all...

Anyway, Thursday was a cool stormy day here...we personally did not get any rain but the area we were driving too had huge cloud bursts and water was everywhere....we loaded the posts and all the pressure treated planks in the stock trailer and grabbed  a burger...then headed home....we took a route we hadn't been on for many years and it was lovely...everything is so green and lush with all the rain they had gotten...fairly remote and unpopulated area....and then BOOOOOMMMM.... a tire blew on the trailer...and R, would have kept driving, since flats are such a rare thing in our life...he was a bit confused at first... so we had to pull over and then the trauma starts...because we rarely have flats the spare tire, while it did have air in it...the bolt that kept it attached to the side of the trailer had corroded and was a real bitch to get off...R  had to stand on the wheel wrench to get it to turn and then we were afraid that something would break and we wouldn't be able to get the spare off .... once we did get it though the rest went easy enough....I helped with the jack...and re- apply the lug nuts....and away we went....slower this time but made it home....whew....it was tense....

Yesterday, I went out very early into the garden and began picking beans....when R got up he came to help but by then I  was nearly done....I had a whole 5 gallon pail full...we dug a few potatoes and picked a couple of tomatoes.  After lunch I started washing and snapping the beans R decided he was going to help, since I was making the mustard beans pretty much just for him, since they have so much sugar in them that I won't be eating much ....it took 6 hours to go through them all and snap them into 1 inch pieces...we had to cut and dice some carrots too, and then make the sauce...and cook the beans and, well.....we made 26 jars of mustard bean pickles....and froze small bags for the table.... I figure 1 more picking like that and I should be done working with the beans....yipee...

but while I was making the sauce for the beans...the phone rang and it was our friends who had been down the other night to visit and when he had left he took the wrong hat...he took my new Canadian hat and left his purple oil field hat....so they wanted t come and  exchange hats....so R said they should come for supper....and I could just stare at him in shock....because here I was...up since 5:30 am....barely sat down that whole time, my hips and back were killing me...it was 4 pm and we were only 3/4 done...now I had to make supper  !!!!!!!!!!!

Long story short, I got the beans done...cleaned up the total destruction in the kitchen and threw a couple of frozen pizza's in the oven...that would have to be good enough....hahahahahahha   ice cream with some of my rhubarb and saskatoon preserves on top....voila....  but I could throttle R when he does that...I mean I wanted my hat back too, but they could have come later....oh well....I always complain he isn't spontaneous enough, I guess I need to be more specific....ahahahhahaha today I can barely move....I think sometime we both forget that I have a debilitating disease...ahahaha   funnily he just said to me the other day that I was super woman, then corrected himself and said " well , you used to be...."  huh...how am I suppose to take that....in my mind I am STILL super woman....hahahahahaha .......ta da ! ! ! !
