Sigh..... I am in a better frame of mind this afternoon....I spent the day putting stuff back into the new cabinetry in the spare room....sorting through some old paper work and turfing what wasn't needed... tonight I hope to hang some of my paintings back on the wall and get them off my bed....the TV still doesn't fit...ahhahah not that I thought a good nights sleep would make it....the wall beds guy called and said don't sweat it... he will bring stain and fix the scratches...as for the TV he is stick thinking about how to fix that dilemma... R says we will just pick up a flat screen and it will fit....they are only 250. bucks....but I know what will happen then...he will like it so much that we will just have to have one in our room and then the living room....Kajing, Kajing...Kajing...
it is very cool here the past two days...only a high of 10....brrrrrrr our furnace even came on ...
I am hosting a 40th anniversary for a pair of friends ....it started out just being a small dinner party..since they didn't want to bother doing anything for themselves...and then we added a few more guests...and then they added a few more...until it has escalated into a 20-25 quest thing.....chairs will have to be borrowed....and I will end up doing all the cooking since most of my other friends that are invited are all working that day...no sweat...though I used to host 30- 40 person parties in my first marriage...Ukrainians have big families ....and love to party.... but it has been 18 years since I have had that many guests....and I ma not my invincible self any more...so it could be a challenge....to top it all off...their kids never got back to me about whether we should have it or not until just the other day...the party is on sept 25....I need more time to get my head around it....you know,.. gird my loins...so to speak...hahahahaha
I just hope there are no last minute additions to the guests...or heads will roll....
it is really more a recognition of my friend B's having lived with N for so long...party...she deserves a medal....a very big medal...but we have to include N in the celebration or he would be suspicious...hahahahah like he isn't already....
I am having company in Nov. for five days....whoooo peeeeee.... I am excited, our first guest to stay in our new murphy bed...ahahahaha....and we will be going on a small road trip to see the dead gopher museum in Torrington AB. I know I could have lived out the rest of my life without seeing taxidermied gophers dressed up in clothes portraying the local townspeople...but when you love someone you make sacrifices...ahahahahahahaha sort of like when I start showing her our favorite cows and she smiles and nods her head like she really cares.......that's love....
I'm good to go if there is chinese food involved...ahahahaha I'm easy...
heading into the city tomorrow to the Ritchie Brothers auction site to look at some landscaping material that is up for auction.....I am excited about that too....
I am expecting the wall beds people to show up this friday to do the finishing touches...then I can set up my computer back in that room and do my final decorating touches...so that I can invite the banker to come and see what we donated our right arm and left ear for.... she would like to see it...so we have to make it nice...
I even finally hung the oval bevelled mirror I bought 10 years ago...when we first built this house...it has been collecting dust under the bed all these years and the other day I saw a diy project about hanging a mirror so you can take it with you when you move...it worked like a hot damn...and I am very pleased with the new look of our guest bathroom...hot diggety dog....I'm on a roll.....what's next....hmmmmmmmm

No Good News
I haven't written sooner because I am trying to come to terms with some unsettling news I got yesterday morning from my doctor.... so I will start from the beginning...it is more whining of course, so bear with me...
I have a problem with my left ankle... never my right one, only the left... a few times a year it swells up to freakish proportions and is very very sore...even just brushing lightly on the skin near my ankle is excruciatingly painful.... I thought it was something to do with the arthritis... and lately wondered if it were to do with the diabetes..and that soon I could expect ulcers and open sores...ewwwwhhhh
Any way this summer it has been more often swollen and sore than it has been normal... not so great looking when you want to wear Capri's.... people automatically assume it is because you are so fat....but then it would be both ankles right ? Anyway... I was just recovering from a rather painful bout of this swelling and it was down to normal size and only a bit tender....when on Thursday morning I awoke feeling pretty good...R was gone outside already and I got a chance to awaken slowly, I like that...I stretched and yikes....~!!!!!! I felt a sharp pain in my left ankle...and it began to throb.... we were headed to the city that day so I sucked it up and got ready...but I could tell it was swelling and getting more painful by the hour.... by late afternoon I could barely stand the pain and was forcing myself to take every step...
I have a phobia about becoming one of those very overweight ladies who waddle or throw their weight from leg to leg to be able to walk.... so limping is very embarrassing for me...and I tried to walk through the big box stores with as little limp as possible..which only made it worse...because my hips and knees started getting sore from walking so unnaturally...by supper time I was near tears....we cut the rest of our shopping off and headed home...I rested my foot on the seat between us on the drive home and my foot looked like a big fat puffy pastry with my toes looking like little cocktail weenies sticking out of it... R was appalled at how swollen it had gotten... but the right was normal..no swelling no pain...eventually my whole leg swelled up and had edema. (water under the skin)
ON Friday morning R took me to outpatients to see a doctor....luckily for me the doc on call was my family doctor...whoo hooo....he had the ankle x-rayed... and came back to my room shaking his head.... R and I were waiting to hear how I needed to lose weight or the diabetic meds weren't working....etc.... not what he said, that's for sure....he said " Girl, you just have to worst luck, and I hate having to keep giving you all this bad news...." well at this point I thought he was going to tell me I had bone cancer or something like that...." the fibular bone in your left ankle is eroded away at the bottom where it joins with the tibia to bracket the ankle bone in your foot...so the ligaments holding the joint together are being stretched because your ankle wants to roll out of the socket the tibia and fibula bones create...and when you stretched yesterday morning, the ligaments stretched and tore junks of the compromised fibular bone away... I suspect that your disease is the cause...for the bone deterioration." I have to admit that took me by surprise.... and R was very upset...and was asking all kinds of questions.... I think I was in a bit of shock...but he continued on, " there isn't anything I can do about it... you can't take anti-inflammatory because of your other meds... you could try wearing an ankle brace but you can't do that 24/7, taller boots that lace up tight will help when you are outside...but otherwise...it will just continue worsening...until the bone will either fracture, splinter or worst case scenario....your ankle will roll out of the joint and break... so I recommend the brace... There is some surgery for severe cases, they do bone grafting...but given your disease...that would be very risky....so I hate to tell you this kiddo but you will eventually use a cane, then a walker and finally a wheelchair... so do what you can, while you can...." and I said " well there goes my dream of scaling K2 when I retire .... hahahahaha it also explains why I have so much trouble being consistent on the tread mill.....I do it one day, it feels wonderful....and I get all motivated and then my bloody ankle goes AWOL and I can't walk for a week....
I asked to be sent to a diabetic counselling session 4 hours a day for 5 days....and they will examine everything from my eating to my exercise and medications and lifestyle...so it should help, I intend to ask about types of exercise I can do that won't flare up the ankle... swimming I know will be the first choice...but I tried that for 8 months and the driving drove me insane....and it was expensive...I know, I know....how can I put a price on my health... it is an excuse I know....mostly it was the driving on the freeway the only classes were at 6:30 am drive an hour there and an hour back for a 45 min. class....I could swim laps but the pool is super busy and I can not keep up with the other swimmer I would have to share a lane with....I tried it...so I know... Oh well hopefully they can help me work something out.... Moving closer to a bigger town would help...but that isn't going to happen...so we will make do...
so I am going to be a cripple some day in the future...I saw the xray myself, it looked bad....mmmm what next....
An addendum to the Murphy bed story...I started loading stuff back into the room today...and the f ' ing TV doesn't fit in its allotted cupboard... shit....in the mean time, we scratched the front of the shelf trying to get it in....grrrrrrrrr... I quit... it was either that or start crying....why oh why can't just one thing go the way it is suppose to... and be easy...Why...why..why .. why.. why

Some People are never Satisfied !
What the hell..... something weird is going on with my sense of smell....it is freakish...I can smell EVERYTHING..... and I mean everything. We had a bought a really nice mattress cover for the new bed and when we took it from the box....it smelled horrible...like formaldehyde...or something chemical.... so after 2 washings and a week of airing...it is better....not perfect but better...so
With our new room now installed....I have had a horrible headache ever since...and we decided it was the smell from the cabinetry....lacquer, stain, melamine etc....off gassing I suppose...we have kept both windows wide open and a fan running to air it out...but last night the neighbour started a root pile that is 40 ft. x 100 ft. long, on fire...and the smoke just gravitated to our yard....so we had to close all the windows in the house on a really warm night...just so I wouldn't have an asthma attack....it is still smokey this morning....great...finally get rid of the BC smoke and now we have it local...what a dink... so ya, some people are never satisfied...here I am with this lovely new room...and I am whining about the smell... I know it will take a few weeks for it to dissipate...but until then, headache central.... we keep the door closed with a towel across the bottom....but it floors you when you walk in there....hahahahah always something.

Wow, I am excited !
Today was the big day...so R woke me up at 6 am...and I wanted to kill him...I was over excited last night and it was 1 am before I finally felt sleepy enough to sleep...I was up at 3 am for a trip to the lou....(which I rarely do during the night) and then my not so subtle wake up call....I wanted to punch him in the face....and then promptly tried to fall back asleep....but he was persistent...and kept bugging me until I did finally punch him in the face...... no I didn't....just joking..but I wanted to...
So I drug myself out of bed at 6:30 am .....and we had breakfast....the two man crew showed up at 8 am from Calgary to install the cabinetry...hahahah I thought the guy was coming from the city but....it was such a big job that the owners son (who runs the factory in Calgary) and his head installer made the trip especially to install it right.... then at 10 am the owner of the company showed up with the door knobs and miscellaneous....and stayed for lunch... I fed them, it wasn't required but it is a farmer thing to do when someone does work for you, the least you do besides pay them is feed them...so we had roast beef and yorkshire's...with warm homemade blueberry pie and ice cream for dessert.
They were here from 8 am til 7 pm....and then they drove back to calgary tonight....they left calgary this morning at 4 am....hahahah they were pretty tired by the time they left....
They have to send one guy back from the Edmonton office to install the back splash and drill one more whole for a electrical cord...but otherwise it is done and beautiful..... I have wanted one of these murphy beds for a long time... and now i finally have one...and so much storage too, that I actually got aroused showing R all the drawers...ahahahahahah he had to go back out to work but said I could show him again later....ahahahahahahhaha

and then this is the corner where my sewing machine will be set up and the bed comes down...
Before >

After >
and finally the South east corner where the computer will set up...and of course more storage....ahahahaha never enough storage.
I think the cabinetry actually makes the room seem larger...I mean it is 14' x 16' anyway but now it looks bigger....I guess it is three dimensional now... and once I get it pimped up with some of my homey accents..it will look even better...
So now when you all come to visit I have somewhere other than an air mattress on the floor, for you to sleep... one at a time of course....hahahahah so I have committed myself to staying here a few more years now, at least until it is paid for...hahaha ouch...Oh, don't get me wrong it is all absolutely beautiful but we must be insane...ahahahahah
Now I just have to clean all the dust off in a few days like they said and I can load all the drawers up with office stuff..
It was really funny because last night before we went to bed we watched a couple of episodes of "Hoarders". I had seen a few before but it was R's first time watching one and he was cursing and so totally disgusted...but like a bad accident he couldn't stop watching...ahahahaha so when I had had enough and headed to bed...I flipped the light on in our room and actually gasped....I had forgotten all the clutter in there right now with the stuff from the other room being stored in there...ahahahahaha It actually gave me quite a start.....and I have to admit that I can not wait to get it all back where it belongs....ahahahahha few more days yet.... this is what it looks like in our room...
R's side, is clear because he doesn't navigate as well as I ....ahahahah

Timing is Every Thing
As the old saying goes Timing is every thing....ahhahahaha I am the queen of bad timing... Apparently, the company coming to install our new Murphy bed on surprisingly short notice...( we were quoted late Sept.) but now they can come this coming Tuesday...hahaha I said sure...but am now scrambling to clear the room out...OMG how can one small room hold so much stuff....with no basement or other such storage space that room is the unofficial catch all....so this evening I finally finished and now our bedroom looks the home of a hoarder.....hahahahaha so I sat in here today hooking my computer back up and just kinda got a feel for the whole "can't throw anything out" kind of person...and I still don't get it...why would anyone purposefully keep so much crap that it fills there house...so you can't see the floor, the walls or your furniture...
Now, I will be the first one to admit that I have a bit of a neatness compulsion...I hate clutter and nick knack shit....everything in its place and so on...because even in our most crappy rental house growing up there was never any clutter...both my parents were very neat people...kind of odd really...given how out of control so much else in their life was....and maybe it had a little to do with my Dad's hobby of selling stuff at the second hand store and buying something different...so if you didn't keep it in it's place and tidy, and he noticed it, or noticed you weren't using it it got traded ......hahahaha...
or it could have been that we moved so often that we never had time to accumulate that much stuff.... what ever the reason, I keep a pretty neat house. So the clutter now occupying my room, where I enjoy lots of open space and nicely staged vignettes... is driving me crazy...just a few hours and I am already feeling overwhelmed and oddly depressed...ahahaha I think I have a serious problem...
I am also worried about tripping over some of it when I get up during the night and walk to the washroom with my eyes closed like I sometimes do...ahahahahah I have a clear pathway to the bathroom but I tend to wander a bit when I am drowsy...or so R says...my biggest concern is hitting my large easel or the chair with the globe on it...or knocking over my sewing supply container and having spools of thread running all over the floor...ahahahah I think I will find a night light...
I just have to keep reminding myself that it is only until Wednesday at the latest.....then I will have a wonderful new multi-purpose room to put all the stuff in...
I did have a bit of fun today....while I was cleaning out the room....which I use for sewing, painting, exercising, and a home office, the old oak desk we bought when we were first married and paid an arm and a leg for...but hated one week after we had it at home....it weighted 300 lb...and was very awkward to sit at...and the drawers were very hard to pull open...well....we tried moving it but I am so useless now...with all my aching joints that I have very little strength, especially after handling the power drill for three days straight building the cattle chute...and drilling holes in the pipe to attach the boards.....whew... so manpower was an issue today. We tried to take it apart conscientiously, thinking we could keep it just in case...but that proved to be a no go...so out came my latest power tool....a Dewalt reciprocating saw....Oh....I love it.... I cut the desk into three pieces....and then we carted it outside to be removed to the dump at a later date....the better pieces of furniture we had in there got put in R's mothers house for storage.... I got a lot of pleasure out of destroying that desk...muuuhahhhahahaha good therapy...
I was a little sad that I had to take down all my paintings....I will put some back up but won't have space for all of them...now I have to choose which ones I like the best....it's like trying to decided which one of your kids you love the most....ahhahaha
Any way, my butt is going numb from sitting on this hard chair so I'll call it a night....

Just some Pictures
So today was mostly an inside day here due to the BC fire smoke...thanks guys....
We finished the cattle loading chute today, they walk up this chute and into the big truck that takes them to the auction mart.....the old one was rotten so, voila....new and improved....
then I took some photo's of some of my flowers...
Two very spoiled dogs....Riley has a bug phobia and is the most agile. Owen has arthritis and is the boss of his brother....hahahaha he doesn't get around very well and has to be lifted into the back of the truck..yuk....
Now, I am tearing my home office apart over the weekend and won't, most likely write another posting until the middle of the week...we will see...see ya then.

I LOVE being sneaky
Hahahahaha I am being so sneaky...it makes me giggle like a little girl... I have this friend whose place we were at on Monday evening for supper and she was cooking the meat on the barbecue on the deck when I noticed her having to drop and least a foot down from the patio door to the deck.... Now I knew they had quite a drop there but she had told me earlier in the summer that her and the grand kids were going to build a step...well it obviously didn't happen...so I made R come out on the deck with me, supposedly for some fresh air....and we did a hillbilly measuring of the spot so that I could whip up a set of steps for her for her birthday next week...so the very next day i built them..and they turned out awesome...but i wanted to make sure they were a good fit but didn't know how to do it without giving away my surprise...so this morning in town to pick up some stuff I needed to finish them, like wood filler and primer....R told me I would have to come clean about my project and ask her if I could measure the step.....so I finally gave in but was very disappointed that it wouldn't be a surprise...when we went to her place, R called on his cell so we wouldn't be shocking her by showing up at the door...but she didn't answer...so we went around to the back yard thinking she might be in the garden...but she wasn't so I quickly ran up on the deck and took a measurement.. we then proceeded to the hardware store....she called us minutes after we arrived there and asked us to come back to her place....we giggled and asked her if she would like to join us for lunch and then I drove us all up to a bigger town for dinner and then we went to the hardware store there because the place in the smaller town didn't have what I needed...I even had her pick out the primer with me...for her own surprise...so when I take the steps there and surprise her...she will be really surprised that she had been a part of the finishing job on them....ahahahhahaha I will take pictures when I have them all done..and let you know how she reacted.... good fun...
